The fashion world of 2011 is looking set to be a very different beast to 2010, with a new infusion of colour and a focus on sultry shapes not seen for several seasons. Leave your black clothes at the back of the wardrobe this summer, as 2011 teaches women everywhere to be bright, resplendent and confident in their appearance.
That\'s not to say the new year is set to be a garish 80s revival though, as colour coordination is the name of the game - particularly when balancing warm and colder tones. These colours don\'t have to be bold and obvious either, with some of the biggest colours gracing the catwalks being the red-pink hue of honeysuckle - as seen in the design collections of Christian Dior, Lanvin and others - and the similarly natural colours of lavender and beeswax. Blue is another popular colour, particularly in regal and sea shades rather than lighter tones.
It\'s not just colour that\'s undergoing a revolution this year either, as the dominance of skinny and petite figures will be challenged by an abundance of designs favouring the pear-shaped physique. Those looking to create a striking impression should also find plenty of opportunities to embrace asymmetry in their look, particularly with lapels and hemlines, while domed shoulders could see you casting a mean shadow.
Long womens dresses are still items of choice this spring, as they were throughout 2010, with some designs even reaching floor length and possessing deep front splits. However, those who prefer skirts will also be spoiled for choice, with a variety of calf-length options proving to be big hits with fashionistas. The design of these skirts and dresses also allow you to be flamboyant and over the top, whether you prefer bold floral prints or more eye-catching designs.
In terms of accessories, women are as free to experiment as ever, but a love of the retro look will certainly put you in good stead. 70s style hats and sunglasses are expected to be back in vogue this summer, and big is also the name of the game when it comes to jewellery, leaving modesty back in the last decade. If you\'re concerned about being truly stylish in 2011, check out chic designer dresses featuring ruffles and fishtailed skirts for wear at the office, along with a tasteful white shirt, and swap your skinny trousers and jeans for a wider leg cut.
